From The Making of Americans

"It is hard living down the tempers we are born with. We all begin well, for in our youth there is nothing we are more intolerant of than our own sins writ large in others and we fight them fiercely in ourselves; but we grow old and we see that these our sins are of all sins the really harmless ones to own, nay that they give a charm to any character, and so our struggle with them dies away."

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

SHINE, make 'em wonder what you've got.

Well, last Friday Leighann, Kerri and I left College Station to go home to Tyler, unfortunately on the way out of town we had to sit in traffic on the highway for a little over 40 minutes. I'm pretty sure that was my first real experience with that kind of situation. not fun, but a good lesson in patience, I suppose.

Anyway, the more notable part of the trip was when the three of us rediscovered Newboys!! which was awesome! I'm almost positive that "Shine" could be one of the happiest songs of all time. Definitely my new bad day song. There really isn't anything that compares to 90s Christian music. Classics.

On Saturday I spent time hanging out with Mom. It was good. Got my Papacita's chips and hot sauce so I was thoroughly satisfied. That night went to the Luvbeat/Luminate concert. Wonderful as always. They both give me that goofy, super happy smile. I guess because I think they're super cool. hahaha. Saw some friends and had some nice chats. It was good.

Sunday morning, got up and packed the ipod up with some more hits, which means I found my WOW '99 CD, as well as DC Talk. Ate lunch with mom at Cafe Tazza. I really like that place. picked up Kerri and Leighann. Saw Leighann's dog's new puppies!! goodness, they were adorable. I'm so glad God made puppies, really baby animals in general, I guess. Then started the trip off right by listening to "Jesus Freak" it was beautiful.

The drive back was rather uneventful. and the scenery was amazing. I don't think there is any way to deny there is a God when you look at nature. It's too intricate and breathtaking.

We also listened to Heidi Newfield's "Johnny and June" on repeat for a while. (yeah, we do that.) It's a great song. My only issue is that they got together through an affair, kinda puts a damper on it. but still a lovely song. Anyway, we made it back JUST in time for our new "class", which is going to be super fun...yes.

newness

Well, I am officially moved in to my first real-ish home away from home. exciting! and a little sad at the same time. The apartment is nice. I like it a lot. and I like my room mates also which, of course, makes it much easier.

First day of school was successful. No horribly embarrassing moments or anything like that. I met quite a few very nice people. and riding the bus was convenient, once I found the bus stop to get back to the apartment. that was tricky. hahaha. anyway, this is pretty much rambling, but I guess that's ok. Life is kind of like that.

Tonight went to this HUGE college ministry called Breakaway. and it was awesome. I'm usually a little leary about things along those lines because they seem overly simplified or something...fake even maybe. but I didn't feel that way tonight. Perhaps I allowed myself to get out of the way? I really don't know, but I will be going back next week.

Tomorrow = day 2 of my classes, since I have all 5 on MWF and no school on Tues and Thurs. It might actually kill me... a legitimate concern. but hopefully it won't. I got up this morning with the intention of reading the first chapters for all my classes, but unfortunately I didn't make that happen. Therefore, we shall see how tomorrow goes. Stress free, I'm sure.

Take Your Medicine

Bought myself a new look
Something gave me another chance to see
Each time, each time, I will try to do better
By now, by now, is where I guess I belong

Pull my fist from my mouth
I beat myself for a quarter century
Remind, remind
That it's bigger than me
Dissolve, dissolve
Into evergreens

These are things that I keep hidden in belly
I can't see them but they control my life
For a moment you could see right through me
See right through me
Help me make this right
Look at all those skeletons running from their closets
Get them in the light

These are things that I keep hidden in belly
I can't see them but they control my life
For a moment you could see right through me
See right through me
Help me make this right
Look at all those skeletons running from their closets
Get them in the light
Get them in the light

You can take it in stride
Or you can take it right between the eyes
Suck up, suck up
And take your medicine
It's a good day, it's a good day
To face the hard things

Pull my fist from my mouth
I beat myself for a quarter century
Remind, remind
That it's bigger than me
Dissolve, dissolve
Into evergreens

We found
Beautiful babies
Sleeping in our ribs
Get them in the light
Get them in the light

About Time

I decided it was about time I get one of these, I guess. it's pretty hilarious that this is the exact same idea as xanga, except that for the time being this is "cool". hahaha. trends...

I don't know that there is really that much to say right now. (except the fact that i'm talking to Kacy Schlener on the phone at this very moment!)

One of my friends made me a friendship bracelet today. which I think is completely awesome. people should really give friendship bracelets more often! I don't know why that doesn't happen. because they are fun to make. (I always feel quite accomplished after finishing one.) and they are fun to give away since they make your friends happy! which basically leads to the world being a happier place and who doesn't want that?? so, go out and make a bracelet/make the world a better place!!
